Jefferson Starship
More on Jefferson Starship
JEFFERSON STARSHIP, a collaboration of celebrated musicians that plays from the rich songbook of its legendary forefathers JEFFERSON AIRPLANE and the original incarnation of JEFFERSON STARSHIP, prevails as one of the most critically acclaimed touring acts today. Steeped in the fantastic realms of science fiction and the contemporary American shadowland, JEFFERSON STARSHIP features a stellar cast of old and new players, including songwriter/guitarist/vocalist Paul Kantner, vocalist Marty Balin, both of whom founded JEFFERSON AIRPLANE and were crucial in developing the renowned "San Francisco Sound" that changed the course of pop music forever. In 1965, Kantner and Balin formed JEFFERSON AIRPLANE, embarking from Balin's San Francisco nightclub The Matrix. With Casady, guitarist Jorma Kaukonen, vocalist Signe Anderson and drummer Skip Spence, JEFFERSON AIRPLANE became the first San Francisco rock group to sign a recording contract with a major label. Their first album on RCA, Jefferson Airplane Takes Off, was released in 1966. Vocalist Grace Slick joined the AIRPLANE in 1967, bringing with her, the hits "Somebody to Love" and "White Rabbit," anthems that announced the "Summer of Love "and permanently altered the perspective of an entire generation. Both songs hit the Top 10 that year, making JEFFERSON AIRPLANE the most successful rock band in America.
Quicksilver Messenger Service

Quicksilver Messenger Service was one of the best bands to emerge from the Sixties Haight Ashbury - San Francisco scene. They loaded up their from-the-heart songs with free-form jamming; in gigs at classic venues like the Fillmore and Avalon, they stretched out and improvised, pushing their music in unpredictable directions. Tougher than the Dead, looser than the Airplane, sadly, today Quicksilver is too often overlooked as an essential classic rock experience.
They made hippie music, simple straight forward lyrics, mostly love songs and some social commentary thrown in (from the freak point of view). Their personnel sometimes changed based on who was busted on the latest pot possession rap. But the two guitar attack of John Cipollina and Gary Duncan was generally a constant. With the charismatic folk rocker Dino Valente out front, the band had its most recognizable singles "Fresh Air" and "What About Me".
Duncan, Freiberg and Lewis stretched Quicksilver into the Eighties with the the lost classic "Peace by Piece" where the band experimented with rap music and synthesized drums. Today, Quicksilver pushes the live sound full circle, with long explorations of rock, jazz, pop and blues - touching back to the endless jams of the sixties at the Avalon and Fillmore.
Listen to Quicksilver, still jazzed after 30 years and sounding fresher than ever

Cerys Matthews is a very Welsh girl, from the way she rolled her r's on "Road Rage" to the chorus of "International Velvet": "Deffrwch Cymry cysglyd gwlad y gan – Every day when I wake up, I thank the Lord I'm Welsh." She and Catatonia were part of a great burst of Welsh creativity in the Nineties that included Gorky's Zygotic Mynci and the Super Furry Animals. Cerys is now 38 years old. She has lived the rock and roll lifestyle to visible excess and backed off.
Now the former Catatonia singer who was once voted the sexiest woman in rock music is back! After nine years with Catatonia, a chart-topping duet with Tom Jones, she isnow enjoying critical acclaim for her solo albums, Cerys is one of the best female rock voices of all time. Don't miss the opportunity to hear this huge voice explode from the petite musical wonder.

Marillion
More on Marillion
Marillion are one of the UK music scene’s best kept secrets; purveyors of soulful, powerful, and often deeply-moving music, whose blistering live shows leave their audiences breathless.
When Fish, Marillion’s original lead singer, left the band in 1988 after four albums he was replaced by the charismatic Steve Hogarth. A former member of The Europeans and some-time collaborator with The The and Julian Cope, Hogarth brought a new heart and energy to the band.
In the face of ignorance and apathy, Marillion continue to defy preconceptions and labelling. The band has evolved into a vibrant musical force – to those who already love Marillion, they’re something special; to everyone else they’re a love affair waiting to happen.

More on Never the Bride

Nikki Lamborn and Catherine Feeney first met on stage at a jam session in a London pub. Never the Bride was born and the duo built up a core following around the capital.
Their live reputation went from strength to strength and big support slots followed from The Who, ZZ TOP and The Pretenders. After successfully supporting The Who, a personal call from Roger Daltrey lead to Nikki and Been joining Daltrey, Alice Cooper, Paul Rodgers, Peter Frampton and a few more rock gods on The British Rock Symphony Tour. The band toured the UK, Europe and Australia with the Orchestra, making a huge impression with their interpretation of Led Zeppelin's Kashmir and Stairway to Heaven.
